Abstract

In general, students reading interest is relatively low. Such lower interest implies at least to things in students learning process, especially in madrasahs-- a low appreciation toward the existence of a librarianship and teaching-learning process which is less innovative. Therefore it is necessary to develop strategic and technical steps- and programs- to create a conducive learning environment in which students reading interest increases.

Abstract

This study is an antropological analysis on conflicts and integrations in percieving the teachings of Islam between Nahadlatul Ulama (NU) followers who base their perception on the Ahlusunnah wal Jamaah doctrines and the  Muhammadiyah followers who in some way or other are influenced by Wahabid doctrines, among the communities living at Sawangan, Depok, West Java. Among the Sawangangan communities the two groups are significantly distinct able due tho their different interpretations as practical guidance in reacting to matters pertaining in their social life, so that teher seems to be two separate social structures. Inspite of the seperation phenomenans there are other phenomennas showing integrations in actions and attitudes toward matters constitute common interesr, for example in reacting toward prostution and gambling practices which both of the two groups think as factors corrupting the morality of the younger generation and also integrating their energy for common interest uniting local social structure.

Abstract

Raja Ali Haji (1809-1870) was a Malay poet born in Penyengat Island, Riau. His most popular work among the Nusantara poets is Gurindam Dua Belas that was adopted form Islamic teaching texts; Qur’an and Hadis. Gurindam Dua Belas consists of the essential Islamic teaching such as Iman, Islam, and Ihsan which is according to him is the same as Akhlak and Mu’amalah Duniawiyah.

Abstract

Reformation movement for last 7 years (1998-2005) hasn't given significant influence yet for bureaucracy reformation. Bureaucracy organization, as state apparatus, is still regarded as corrupt, complicated, un-efficient, slow, high cost spended, and un-professional in public service. Therefore, good governance demand makes citizen as a customer who has to be served well, including in determinning and controlling their services.

Abstract

Madrasah merupakan lembaga pendidikan yang lahir dari dan untuk masyarakat. Masdrasah memiliki identitas tersendiri dibandingkan dengan sekolah. Pada masa kolonial, pendidikanmadrasah diankairikan dan dianggap sebagai  msekolah di luar sistem. Akibat perlakuan yang negatifdari pemerintah kolonial ini maka pendidikan islam termasukmadrasah menghadapi kesulitan dan terisolasi dari arus modernisasi. Pada masa kemerdekaan, madrasah tidak dimasukkan dalam sistem pendidikan nasional. Pada era Orde Lama, madrasah dibiarkan hidup, meskipun dalam keadaan yang sederhana dan apa adanya. Pada era Orde Baru, pemerintah mulai memeprhatikan madrasah, terutama setelah lahirnya UUSPN No.2 Tahun 1989, di mana madrasah dimasukkan dalam subsistem pendidikan nasional. Di sini madrasah dituntut untuk menggunakan Kurikulum Nasional dan ikut serta dalam Ebtanas. Kemudian dengan lahirnya UUSPN No.20 Tahun 2003, kedudukan madrasah  lebih mantap dan harus berbenah diri dan berpacu untuk mengejar ketertinggalannya dari sekolah-sekolah yang dibina Departemen Pendidikan Nasional.

Abstract

For the first time, the language was only developed on an oral tradition. Then, it appeared a written tradition in order to keep its language survival. Its supporting instrument is the tradition of writing dictionary (Lexicography). The Dictionary in the Arab world looks very unique because the linguists had arranged it in various forms.

Abstract

The expectation to be fluent bilinguals in English, Arabic, and Indonesian is the main target at the elementary, junior, and senior high schools or madrasahs. At the university, it becomesfluent bilinguals as we have to know the local language as well. At the elementary level, pupils are taught through the contextual language instructing approach, connected with the real world activities such as taking part in environmental awareness and Indonesian's diverse ethnic groups. The approach at the junior high schools is then connected with classroom-based and task-based approach by increasing the competency skills with daily life activities as in writing a report, etc. Hopefully, at the academic level, students are trained to improve their language skills, providing chances to use English or Arabic in real communication, and exposed to many topicsand issues related to the environment.
